Wash your hands
In my spare time, I've taken up a second job in Nevada; and I think my advice featured in the following column could be useful in the studio...
"It's not a complicated process," Brian Labus, senior epidemiologist with the Southern Nevada Health District, said of hand-washing."It's one of those things we talk about at this time of year every year," Labus said, "as a way to prevent colds and flu. It's one of the best ways we have to prevent people getting sick. It gives me less work to do investigating sick people."

CHAMPIONS OF DESIGN
Over the last year, JKR have been posting their "Champions of design" on their blog - The design Gazette
They have now turned the series into a free book, which is available to download here.
"What makes a champion of design? The latest jkr book attempts to answer this question by focusing on 25 brands; some famous, some less obvious, but all great. It’s a book about design, but also the people who create and manage it – the champions who can teach us all a lesson. Full of facts, trivia and insight, all served up in bite sized slices."
Worth a read, if you get the time.

LIFECYCLE
Stuart Devlin from New York based agency Red Peak has recently completed a project titled Lifecycle.
The project was a unique experiment for Hudson Urban Cycles and involved documenting a year in the life of an ordinary bicycle chained to a post in SoHo - New York City.

THE BOAT PROJECT
More than 1200 wooden items have been donated by members of the public as part of inspirational "The Boat Project."
The fabulous construction is the south east's entry for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and it will visit south coast towns during the Olympics.
It has been handcrafted by a team of boatbuilders using the contributed parts that include original parts from the Mary Rose and HMS Victory which sit alongside more mundane objects but which all have their own unique story. The largest object is an 8ft long plank from a felled yew tree and the smallest is a cocktail stick. Other parts include acoustic guitars, a violin, a didgeridoo, a tennis racket, hockey sticks, a toy helicopter, a children’s train track and a Victorian police truncheon. Hidden among them all is that famed little piece of the guitar which rock legend Jimi Henrix played in 1960.
Each timber item was donated by a family or individual to represent their own personal story and have now been assembled to form the 30ft long hull of yacht.
The unique vessel is the brainchild of artists Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters, who appealed to members of the public to come forward with wooden objects that they would like to see included.

Building on a Theme
German street artist, EVOL, takes everyday, mundane objects and turns them into apartment buildings. Though they looks dull and dreary, the unexpected discovery of these pieces is pretty fun.
