Marbelous!

Instead of playing with your food, you can play with your table. "Marbelous" is the latest offering from Nathan Wierink and Tineke Beunders of the Ontwerpduo studio. Marbles roll into grooves on the tabletop, down the spindled legs and collect in a box at the bottom. It's a lot of money well spent for five minutes of fun!

"pour les alpes" is a collaborative effort between two Swiss designers, Tina Stieger and Annina Gähwiler, to create pieces of furniture that are inspired by the Alpine terrain and culture. These three bedside tables represent the erosion of rock, the steep rooftops of Alpine homes, and topographical views of the glaciers.

Eyvind Earle

Around SF, they have been advertising the release of Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" on DVD. The background painter for the movie, Eyvind Earle, had an astonishing portfolio of paintings. He rose quickly in the ranks of Disney artists due to his original style and ability to capture fantasy-like contrast and emotion in a single shot. It is worth clicking on some of these images to see them larger for detail.

Oh, and if anyone finds a decent price on a book of his work, let me know. His books are running upwards of $750 on Amazon.com!
