Reyka Vodka

Reyka Vodka is distilled in Iceland. There are eight shrink-wrapped caps that are applied in corellation to events around the distillery. For example, if a red fox comes onto the grounds of the distillery that day, then the neck label featuring the red fox is applied. If your vodka was distilled during Puffin mating season, then Puffins will appear on the neck label of your bottle. A story is connected to each label that applies a bit of myth to whomever drinks that batch.

"Pack for adventure if you drink from a bottle with a viking boat on it. If anyone named "Leifur" is in the news when we make a batch, we put a ship on each cap. Leifur Erikson was born in the same town of our distillery and sailed to America in a rickety boat. People who drink these batches often run-off with people in not so rickety planes."

The singer/songwriter/actress promoting the Vodka is Hafdis Huld from "GusGus".

Gardening with glass

Seattle glass artist Dale Chihuly once vowed never to show an installation of his at the same place twice. He lied.

The sculptor, this time joined by other renound artists, has his enchanting glass creations on display again at Miami's Fairchild Botanical Gardens. Perhaps an unexpected place to find a collection of expensive, and very breakable glass. Art & Flowers: Chihuly at Fairchild is even open at night starting this week and runs until the 31st of May - the day before hurricane season starts in south Florida.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any cultural activities on the itinerary for the bachelorette/hen party I'm headed to in Miami next month, but I'll try sneaking off to have a looksie inbetween shots at the bar.

What ever happened to Fre?

There and back again. I finally found an on-shelf redesign of Fre: the alcohol-free wine. It looks like not only has the alcohol been removed, but also the concept. Of all places, I found the new bottles in Dayton, Ohio. This and their new Starbucks is really putting them on the map. The third picture is the final product.

Rainfall in the Urban Jungle

Aqua is a newly approved tower in the Lakeshore East district of Chicago. Each floor of the 80-something stories is unique in shape. The result is to the effect of water erosion on stone after many, many years.

Improvement to drinking!

Here is a nice little invention to make the shots go down that much smoother!

Shots are key to any unrememberable evening of drinking, but coordinating the two glasses necessary to shoot and chase can be exhausting, and incredibly confusing. Thankfully, sweet Mother of Cuervo, the Quaffer is here.

The Quaffer is an oversized shot glass shaped like a POM bottle. To load, just tilt, and fill the 2.25oz lower bulb with chaser and the 1oz upper bulb with shot. The Q's narrow waist prevents the liquids from mixing, so throwing it back unleashes a potent liquor/chaser one-two that'll have you fighting with oversized bouncers and undersized table lamps in no time.
