Following the baseline that J&B Rare scotch blend whisky was born in London at exactly the same period tattoos started to become popular, the brand decided to celebrate this origin by literally tattooing 25 bottles.
J&B Tattooed Bottles
The bottles are covered in latex skin, tatooed by owner of Le Sphinx private tattoo room in Paris – who spent around 20 hours tatooing each bottle. The bottles are now for sale at Paris at Publicis Drugstore and at L’éclaireur rue Herold, in rough black silkscreened wooden boxes.

Honest Slogans

I'm not certain if all these make sense for the UK audience...

Design that's so underground

Look closely next time you are riding the tube to see if you can spot any of these:

David Hockney: A Bigger Exhibition

Last Friday, TDSF spent the afternoon at the de Young museum viewing David Hockney: A Bigger Exhibition, the first comprehensive survey of Hockney’s 21st century work.

First noted as a painter under the British pop art scene, Hockney sustained his fame through his oversize murals of the English countryside. Many of these were on display at the de Young, usually with just one mural taking up an entire interior wall. Hockney’s use of scale, color, and multiple perspectives gave typical landscape scenes a greater sense of grandeur and excitement. Experiments with other media were also on display, including Hockney’s work with iPad paintings and multi-frame “patchworks” of video. A corner of the exhibit was dedicated to showing the end-to-end process of his iPad paintings, giving the unique experience of being able to watch his images quickly build again and again.

Shout-out to Joanne for the green light on the tour!

TDSF spent a wintry lunch break at fuseproject, a local product design firm, gaining insight into their multi-disciplinary processes and viewing their brand-new studio space.

Curt Collinsworth and Logan Ray were on hand to walk us through their successful relationship with Jawbone, their recent overhaul of the Nivea brandmark and bottle design, and talked briefly of their soon-to-debut Public Office Landscape collaboration with Herman Miller, which they've been testing within their own studio since moving in during the Spring.

fuseproject offers a wide range of services under one roof, and their ability to craft an entire brand story holistically shows through in their work. A successful process to note as TD grows!
