Go Back to Pompeii

Perhaps this is what really happened to your lost luggage. Visa is sponsoring the "Go Back to Pompeii" exhibit at the National Museum in New Zealand, and TBWA\Tequila was brought on to create their advertising campaign.

Dial M for Miracle Whip

Last night saw the world premiere of the new Lady Gaga music video, "Telephone". In case you missed it, the 9 1/2 minute long video, featuring Beyonce, is a fantastic, racy mishmash of Thelma & Louise and Tarantino with a shout-out to MJ and some seriously tongue-in-cheek product placement. Our new Miracle Whip packaging has a great role in the second half as Gaga's choice of sandwich spread paired with Wonderbread and a gaggle of male gogo dancers. The brand's business objective is to build a strong following among 18 - 35 year olds and our challenge was to portray this sense of fun with a bit of attitude in an iconic/category-breaking design. Not sure if the brand managers a year ago envisaged their quirky MW making its new packaging launch via lesbian prison scenes and murderous pop stars but we love our client's guts for going BIG.

PS. It's also worth noting her rather classy Diet Coke rollers, a touch of prison chic.

Stewdio

This was a cool find by DT. Stewart Smith of "Stewdio" creates software through the lens of a Graphic Designer. What he creates is always refreshing, fun, witty.

Browser pong creates tiny browser windows on your monitor and turns them into pong paddles that can be controlled by your keyboard:

Windmaker takes any URL and impacts it with a blustery effect:

Histoface allows you to type in any message into a histogram and have your related image alter based on what you type:

Shadow Chair

This chair seems to defy gravity by balancing only on 2 front legs. A rigid steel frame built inside the chair is actually part of the design, allowing it to rest on its own shadow.

Designed by ID firm Duffy London. You can read more about it here.

Hanger Tea

Soon Mo Kang has designed a line of tea inspired by clothes hanging in a closet. I'm not sure why the theme of clothing was chosen, but it is clever!
