favourite and least favourite design-clem

Favourite piece of design? Vespa GS 150, Yeah I know, it wasn't very fast, didn't steer, didn't stop very quickly etc, but it just looks so.....elegant (in a curvy sort of way), launched in 1955, only available in silver,  the definitive scooter.

Worst? Liberation, this design really annoys me, weedy, self indulgent designs are ten apenny, what is it about this one that really gets to me? Its a great product with a great fair trade story and obviously a client prepared to choose a witty solution. In my humble opinion it's about liberation from poverty, not the nuts from their little bag. A missed opportunity.

Turnerduckworthy Emily

Emily chose the new light weight laundry detergent bottles as her favorite piece of design as they are a great example of making something infinitely better by taking something out.

On Turnerduckworthy-ness she penned the following:

I spent all weekend pondering at
Something Duckworthy for this morning's chat
But if you got lucky and your work is Tur-Ducky,
I'll say "why didn't I think of that?!"
It's not very easy to do
To make something surprising and simple, it's true –

As you all know we had our Turner Duckworth State of the Union addresses. We have gathered everyone's contributions and will be posting them in installments.

First up... Tanawat.

Turner Duckworth: - Be the first : been to the place that people've never been before. - Brave/ take risk: there might be some unexpecting things happening along the way. But we aren't afraid of it. - Teamwork: A person can't reach the moon by him/herself. It takes a great teamwork.


My favorite design: Forks – It's really simple & useful. And we're using it everyday. – No clear statement about who designed it. But believe it or not, forks have been used in ancient China long before chopsticks!

Least favorite design:

Japanese toilet
– This is only from my personal experience. Others might find it useful and well design.
– When I first went to Japan and had to used this. I had no idea which way was the front!
